About Masterflight Foundation

The Masterflight Foundation was launched in 2006 by Capt. Mordechai Levin together with a team of national leaders in youth, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education, and community-based social change.

Our Mission

Combining our passion for working with youth and our love of flight, our mission aims to recruit and train the next generation of pilots, astronauts, engineers, teachers and scientists by introducing them to aerospace education during their formative years.

The Masterflight Foundation helps ensure the creation of positive role models from diverse populations and economic backgrounds that will inspire young men and women to achieve their full potential.

Our Goal

Our goal is to make a difference in the aerospace industry, including the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM,) by increasing access to the field for young men and women, especially people of color.

Masterflight Foundation Strategic Initiatives

Developing methods for recruitment and retention of students and instructors from diverse populations.

Increasing access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and careers for women and people of color.

Conducting research in cognitive learning science to create a community for developing culturally sensitive teacher training and student educational materials and pre-service teacher education programs based on modern practices.

Masterflight Programs

The Masterflight Aerospace Career Exploration ACE Academy is a week long residential summer educational program for high school students. The focus of the ACE Academy is on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities for women and minorities. Students fly airplanes, experience instruction in aerodynamics, Air Traffic Control communications, navigation; meet with astronauts, Flight Surgeons, participate in an interactive computerized simulation of a Mission Control and a spacecraft for exploration, visit Air Traffic Control towers and air route traffic control centers, build and launch rockets.
